Stephan Clark Book Reading/MFA Introduction

We are pleased to announce two special events for the English department at Augsburg College. The first is the recent publication of Assistant Professor Stephan Clark's book, Vladimir's Mustache and Other Stories, by Russian Life Books.

The second is the approval for the new MFA at Augsburg, the Masters of Fine Art in Creative Writing. In 2013, the MFA will offer four genres—Fiction, Creative Non-Fiction, Poetry, and Screenwriting. The plan is to add a fifth genre, Playwriting, in 2014 along with concentrations in Publishing, Teaching, and Translation.

To celebrate these accomplishments, we invite you to attend a reception and book reading on March 28, 2012 at 6:30 pm in the Admissions Suite on the bottom floor of the Christensen Center. If you plan on attending the book reading, RSVP to the admissions office at 612-330-1101 or gradinfo@augsburg.edu.

If you cannot attend the event but wish to know more about our low-residency MFA, feel free to contact us at any time by using the above information or by going to to http://www.augsburg.edu/mfa and filling out an information request form.

Native American Flute Player at Augsburg College

The students in the Ojibwe Language Course would like to invite you to join them... please spread the word!

Michael "Scooter" Charette, Anishinaabe flute player and artist, will be performing here at Augsburg on Monday, March 26, 2012 from 7-8 PM in Sateren Auditorium. "Scooter" or Bapa Waagash, which is his spirit name meaning "Laughing Fox" in Ojibwe/Anishinaabe, is from the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe.

Charette's dedication to the traditional flute earned him a Native American Music Award nomination as the 2010 "Flutist of the Year" for his CD, "The Tales of Laughing Fox." The Nammys, as they are known, were established in 1998 to offer Native American musicians a place to showcase their work and raise public awareness of native music.

This is a free event and open to everyone. Hope you will join us to hear some beautiful flute music!!!
