The Augsburg Classic Film Society continues its series this week with the showing of F.W. Murnau's "Sunrise" (1927) on Thursday, March 29 from 7-10 p.m. in Old Main 18.

"Sunrise" is a classic tale filled with love, emotion, seduction, and reconciliation. The story revolves around a rural couple's enduring love as they overcome the hostile, destructive forces of a big city.

"Sunrise" won the Academy Award for Best Picture and star Janet Gaynor won for Best Actress (the first year the awards were held). Featuring dazzling special effects for the time, it was the first feature film released with sound-on-film with a synchronized musical score.

The event is free and open to the Augsburg community and public.
