Augsburg College will be sponsoring the Summer Theology Institute from June 24-29.  In its fourth year, the institute brings high school students to campus with the purpose of expanding their theological imagination and to teach the students how to infuse theology into everyday life.

Participants are typically nominated to attend by their home congregations for demonstrating an interest in theology or leadership. This year's institute centers on the theme of "Imago Dei" or the "image of God." Ross Murray, Summer Theology Institute Program Director says that the week will reflect on "how we are created in the image of God and how the image of God is portrayed in our culture."

Mornings will be spent in a classroom setting with Jeremy Myers, Professor of Youth & Family Ministry. Afternoons and evenings will include outings to various locations throughout Minneapolis, including the Minneapolis Institute of Arts to examine the image of God in artistic expression throughout the ages. A trip to downtown Minneapolis will look at how God is represented in everyday settings such as an alley or Macy's department store.

The week culminates in the writing of a paper. If a participant's paper is included in the Summer Theology Institute Journal, they will receive a $1,000 scholarship if they choose to attend Augsburg.
