Augsburg Safe Space educates on LGBTQIA issues

Feb. 20, 2007

Safe Space

Safe Space at Augsburg College works to educate students, staff, and faculty on LGBTQIA issues so that these individuals may be seen as a resource, a Safe Space, for members of the queer community.

LGBTQIA Support Services and the Department of Campus Activities and Orientation will be conducting Safe Space Training on Wednesday, Feb. 28  from 6 to 9 p.m. in Murphy Place 100.

For many students in the lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual, questioning, intersex, and asexual communities, the presence of allies for whom they can turn for support, or even the simple knowledge that allies exist, can be a big factor in developing a positive sense of self, building community, coping with bias, and working to improve campus climate.

For more information and to sign-up contact Will O'Berry, Assistant Director of Campus Activities and Orientation/LGBTQIA Support Services, at oberry@augsburg.edu or 612-330-1499.
