Workshop addresses the "Generation Next"

The Pew Research Center for the People & the Press reports that the "Generation Next" (individuals born between 1981 and 1988) are "the most tolerant of any generation on social issues such as immigration, race and homosexuality, and accept the globalization of work." It also reports that generally they're not interested in politics and 80% say that getting rich is their most important goal. They are technologically savvy, but don't read as much as earlier generations. Their heroes are their friends and family. Many Augsburg students are part of the "Generation Next."
A "Generation Next" presentation and discussion will be part of The Workshop on First Year Students AND Issues in Student Development held Tuesday, May 15 through Thursday, May 17 on campus. The workshop is open to faculty and staff.
The workshop addresses issues of student development, orients AugSem faculty to what will be done with the Signature AugCore component next year, and applies student development theory to what the community is doing with Engaging Minneapolis and the Augsburg Experience.
The schedule follows. RSVP as soon as possible to Terry Martin at x1229 or martin@augsburg.edu.
