Spirit of MLK Award
Boyd Koehler and Kasidy Moore are this year’s recipients of the Spirit of MLK Award. This award is presented in recognition of a faculty or staff member and a student of Augsburg College for serving in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in their work with others on and off campus. Each of the recipients has demonstrated peace, love, humility, integrity and honor while working with others. The awards were presented during the 19th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Convocation lunch held January 15.
Boyd Koehler is an associate professor and librarian at Augsburg College. Koehler has been at Augsburg for 40 years. He is currently the advisor to the student newspaper. He is also very active outside of Augsburg as a member of the community. He has served as the minister of music and adult choir director at Camphor Methodist Church in St. Paul for 16 years. Koehler also continues to volunteer research guidance and assistance to inner city agencies and to numerous students of color pursuing graduate degrees.
Kasidy Moore is a senior majoring in Music Business. She performs with the vocal group Ten-65 and is very involved in her church as a choir member and youth leader. Moore was recently voted into the office of Public Relations officer for the Pan Afrikan Student Union and is an office assistant in the Center for Service, Work and Learning.
