Medieval Minnesota August 5 to 11

August 6 , 2007

Medieval MN 2006Students from around the country have come to Augsburg this week to participate in Medieval Minnesota, the college’s summer camp that re-imagines life in the Middle Ages.

Students learn medieval history as well as historic skills such as fencing, Renaissance dance and troubadour songs, storytelling, and costume making. The camp is geared toward training students for a graduation performance to be held at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. Several Augsburg faculty teach at the camp.

“Medieval Minnesota was one of the best weeks of my life,” says incoming first-year student Bethany Locke of her experience last summer. She is returning this year as an assistant counselor. “I look forward to meeting likeminded teens from around the country who share my passions.”

Medieval Minnesota was recently featured in Renaissance magazine (vol. 12, issue #54).  The camp is part of Augsburg's nationally recognized Medieval Studies program. Learn more at www.augsburg.edu/medievalstudies/.
