Art and Hip Hop at Augsburg

Feb. 28, 2007

Artist Chris Allen

Performance art hits the Augsburg campus this Friday, March 2 at 7 p.m. with "Art and Hip Hop: A Live Collaboration." It will take place outside Lindell Library.

A farewell party for the Gage Family Art Gallery, the evening features a live mural performance by Chris Allen (a.k.a. Inkproof) an Auggie alum and freelance artist living in the Minneapolis area.

Originally from the Washington D.C. area, Allen reports that he is made up of a variety of different backgrounds, ethnicities, opinions, and visions. Graffiti has had a large impact on his art style. He says, "All of my pieces are hand done and custom made, and usually have a lot of sweat and time put into them."

Inkproof (Allen) will be accompanied by some of the best in Twin Cities Hip Hop: Big Jess of the Unknown Prophets, Mohs, The Dirty Smarts Collective, DisputeOne and LiveWire, with DJ Last Word.

Hot beverages and a heated tent will be provided. Learn more about Allen's work at www.inkproof.com.
