New elevators part of capital improvements campaign

The Christensen Center elevator modernization project will begin July 1.
Peter Chaput, Facilities Manager states: "Augsburg College is investing heavily in its facilities through its capital improvements campaign. Modernizing aging elevators is but one piece of our overall improvement plan."
The elevator will be ready for use by move-in weekend. The new elevator will include a new microprocessor based controller, a new hydraulic jack assembly and a new look in the elevator cab. Accommodations will be made for accessibility to the second and lower levels of the center during the elevator remodeling.
The Urness elevator modernization will begin with car #1 on June 1. This car will be ready for use by move in weekend in late August. Car #2 will be taken out of service one week after move in and will be returned to service in early December. One car will always be available for use during the Urness modernization project.
The interiors of the new cab will include an updated ceiling, lighting fixture, stainless steel walls, and flooring. New elevator buttons in the hall and in the cab will be easier to see and use. Position indicators will tell the user where the elevator is at any time. The state-of-the-art microprocessor controller reduces passenger wait time. The new elevator will also be more energy efficient
