Nicaragua Scholarship Fundraiser

February, 2006

On a recent Center for Global education trip 25 Augsburg students were fortunate enough to experience the country of Nicaragua. We heard many speakers with various political and social views.

While they disagreed about lots of things, there was one way to better life for Nicaraguans that they agreed on: education. In Nicaragua, the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, most people live on $1 a day. Secondary and Higher education can help people get out of poverty. It only costs $10 to send a Nicaraguan student to high school for one month and $30-50 for one month of University.

In order to give the students of Nicaragua a chance to better their lives through education we will be raising awareness and money to help send Nicaraguan students to high school and college.
Please stop by our table in the Christensen Center from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. We would love to share our experience and love of Nicaragua with anyone who is interested or would like to help. You can make a difference!

Tonight, Kelsey Nolan will be exhibiting a photo project of her experience in Nicaragua. Sari Gallagher will be raising money and awareness about hunger in Nicaragua. She will be leading a volunteer group to Feed My Starving Children, tonight, from 8 -9:30 p.m., to help make bags of food for hungry children in impoverished countries like Nicaragua.
