Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and can be found under the "Research: On-campus" tab on menu of the URGO web page (http://www.augsburg.edu/urgo/).

To apply, complete the electronic application with your faculty mentor and have them email it to urgo@augsburg.edu. Grants typically run out in the fall, so apply as soon as possible.

McNair Scholars Program Recruiting for Fall 2016

Augsburg College's TRIO McNair Scholars Program is recruiting students for Fall 2016 admission. Eligible applicants are either current Juniors or will be at Junior status Spring 2017 and available to conduct research Summer 2017. We are particularly looking for students in STEM fields that are interested in pursuing doctoral degrees, but we will consider all majors EXCEPT most professional fields (including business, pre-law, pre-health). STEM Sophomores may also be eligible during this recruitment period; please contact us if you'd like more info on this.

The McNair Scholars Program works with students who are members of groups underrepresented in graduate education and who exhibit strong academic potential. The goal of the program is to prepare Scholars for graduate study through academics, involvement in undergraduate research and other scholarly activities. McNair provides coursework, workshops and advising in preparation for doctoral study. The program also assists with securing admission to and financial assistance for enrollment in graduate programs. Students will acquire the research skills necessary to succeed in graduate school through a paid research internship ($4,000) with an Augsburg faculty member during the Summer of 2017.

The McNair Scholars Program is a federal TRIO grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Therefore, to be eligible, students must be first-generation (neither parent graduated from a four-year college) AND low-income OR may be persons from groups underrepresented in graduate education. The Department of Education defines these groups as African-American, American Indian, Alaskan Native, and Hispanic/Latino. Additionally, applicants must be either U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents.

If you are interested in learning more about the McNair Scholars Program, please contact Lara Crombie, Program Assistant at crombie@augsburg.edu to schedule an appointment. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have questions about the program or if you're unsure whether or not you qualify.

Give to the Max Day Info Session is Sept. 15

Academic departments, athletics, organizations and clubs are all invited to be a part of Give to the Max Day on Thursday, November 17, by sponsoring a fundraising project of your own. Please join Institutional Advancement in looking ahead to another great year for Give to the Max Day on Thursday, September 15, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Oren Gateway 100. To RSVP, contact Jen Lowman Day at dayj@augsburg.edu or ext. 1552.

Now is the time to choose a fundraising project to champion as we look ahead to the one-day online giving event where donors around the world can support their favorite Minnesota nonprofits. Last year, 33 Augsburg projects were sponsored by students, faculty and staff, and the College raised more than $240,000 from more than 1,000 donors to come in first place among all Minnesota colleges and universities, winning a $10,000 prize for the College.

This information session will guide you through a project planner's toolkit for leading a successful Give to the Max project. We'd love to hear tips from past project leaders about how you made your own effort successful. A pizza lunch will be provided.

If you can't make this date, have any questions, or know someone who would like to be added to this year's event, contact dayj@augsburg.edu or ext. 1552.
