Public Safety and Facilities Announcements

Parking and Transportation Reminder

As we near the end of our first week back on campus, you have likely noticed a few significant changes to our parking and transit options. This is a friendly reminder that some of our lot designations have changed. Lots A and D are reserved for valid Faculty/Staff permits ONLY. Lot A also currently houses our carpool spaces. Lot B is residential and commuter students ONLY. Lot E is primarily to be used for short-term (3 hour max) VISITOR parking (Permits can be obtained at the DPS window in the Urn/Mort Lobby). Lot H will continue to be special permits, as well as the addition of HourCar and Car2Go. Lot J is now limited to special permit types ONLY. This is the new parking home of all Future Auggie visitors! Lot K and those on-street spots designated as C, will continue to be available for our commuter students ONLY. Lot L will remain available to all valid permit holders.

Augsburg College has also secured additional parking options for the 2016-2017 academic year. Lot O (2511 Franklin Ave. E) and Lot M (2001 Minnehaha Ave) are off-site lots that may be utilized as valid permit overflow and can also be secured for those interested in one of the new Combo Pack options. Please see augsburg.edu/dps/parking/facultystaff-parking/ for available options and details. Valid permits will need to be displayed for all lots. DPS will be working to ensure compliance, utilizing ticketing and towing when appropriate.

Due to space limitations, visitor permits will be restricted during regular business hours.

Please visit inside.augsburg.edu/transportation/ for more information regarding public transit use, biking, and other options.

First Symposium on Civic Studies at Augsburg

Auggies, mark your calendars for the first Civic Studies Symposium of the academic year.

Thursday, September 22
8 - 9:30 a.m.
Old Main 106

What is Civic Studies? It presents an empowered vision of "citizen" in a transition from powerlessness to agency. The idea of citizens as co-creators -- of Augsburg, of the Twin Cities, of democracy as a way of life -- is a profound challenge to "students as consumers" and related conventional definitions.

Give to the Max Day Info Session is Sept. 15

Academic departments, athletics, organizations and clubs are all invited to be a part of Give to the Max Day on Thursday, November 17, by sponsoring a fundraising project of your own. Please join Institutional Advancement in looking ahead to another great year for Give to the Max Day on Thursday, September 15, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Oren Gateway 100. To RSVP, contact Jen Lowman Day at dayj@augsburg.edu or ext. 1552.

Now is the time to choose a fundraising project to champion and start looking ahead to the one-day online giving event where donors around the world can support their favorite Minnesota nonprofits. Last year, 33 Augsburg projects were sponsored by students, faculty and staff, and the College raised more than $240,000 from more than 1,000 donors to come in first place among all Minnesota colleges and universities, winning a $10,000 prize for the College.

This session will guide you through a project planner's toolkit for leading a successful Give to the Max project. We'd love to hear tips from past project leaders about how you made your own effort successful. A pizza lunch will be provided.

If you can't make this date, have any questions, or know someone who would like to be added to this year's event, contact dayj@augsburg.edu or ext. 1552.
