Interested in 3D Printing?
Interested in learning about 3D printing? Want to set aside some time to explore some of the Computer Aided Design (CAD) software and design something of your own? If so, bring your creative spirit to an introductory 3D Printing workshop. The purpose of the workshop is to provide anyone in the Augsburg community an opportunity to be introduced to 3D printing. You are invited to any and all of the 3 workshop sessions.
Workshop times/locations:
Session 1: Thursday June 23, 1:00-2:00 p.m., SVE 201 (PC lab)
Session 2: Thursday June 30, 1:00-2:00 p.m., SVE 204 (Mac lab)
Session 3: Thursday July 7, 1:00-2:00 p.m., SVE 204 (Mac lab)
You can either bring your own laptop to work from or use one of the computers in the room.
Format of workshop:
Session 1: There will be a short presentation on different types of computer aided design (CAD) software. Participants will start to work through some online tutorials from the CAD software with which they choose to work.
Session 2: Participants will come with an idea of what they want to design. They will continue to work through relevant tutorials and start their design.
Session 3: Participants will continue/complete their design. There will be options for them to print their designs.
If you cannot make it to Session 1, feel free to come to Session 2 or 3. Come for part of a session. Walk in during the middle of a session. If you are interested, join us!

Nobel Peace Prize Forum plans for 2017
Augsburg is proud to host the annual Nobel Peace Prize Forum. As an attendee myself, I'm deeply moved by the rare opportunity this event presents our students and faculty. This year's conference, which was held June 6-8, was very strong. More than 300 students, academics, activists and thought leaders participated in three days of discussion and presentations featuring the work of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Kailash Satyarthi.
Looking to 2017, one of our top goals is to more deeply connect the Forum with the academic program at Augsburg--as well as that of the Forum's academic partners. To that end, we will be working to identify new dates for Forum so that it can be held during the academic year. We also are restructuring the staffing of the Forum to more closely integrate program planning with Augsburg's core operations. This will involve establishing a set of specified roles and responsibilities (e.g., fundraising, event planning, partner relations, etc.) for a number of Augsburg staff, creating additional opportunity for input and guidance from Augsburg faculty in the Forum program planning process, and recasting the Forum executive director position to a managing director position focused primarily on coordinating the work of the integrated Augsburg team.
I am pleased to announce that Bettine Hermanson has agreed to serve as interim managing director for the Forum to support the transition. Bettine has served as a staff member for the Forum for the past two years, supporting the Forum and Augsburg with her strong organizational and teamwork skills,
As we transition to this new approach, we also wish Gina Torry the best in her next endeavors as she moves out of the role of executive director. Gina's last day with the Forum will be July 1. Gina has served for two years as executive director for the Forum, assembling a strong roster of speakers and bringing a new level of energy to the 28th year of this important event. We are grateful for her work to elevate the peacebuilding impact of the Forum and engage new partners, and we look forward to building on that foundation in the coming years.
