Convocation Daily Schedule Change

On Thursday, October 16, the Center for Counseling and Health Promotion convocation will affect the daily class schedule.

The revised schedule will be:
1st Period 7:50-9:15 a.m. (instead of 7:50-9:30)
2nd Period 9:25-10:50 a.m. (instead of 9:40-11:20)
Convocation 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
3rd Period 12:10-1:40 p.m.
Remaining classes follow regular schedule

Diversity & Global Learning in the Curriculum

Please join Eric Canny, new Dean of Global Education, for a series of conversations about renewing our commitment to teaching Diversity and Global Learning across the curriculum.

All conversations will be from 12 to 1 p.m. - bring your lunch or buy it in the East Commons (Gen Ed will pick up the tab)

Wednesday, Oct. 15 Where can / do diversity and global learning meet in the curriculum? (Augsburg Room)

Diversity and Inclusion meeting Oct. 16

Augsburg College's mission states our commitment to "..intentional diversity in our life and work." The Diversity and Inclusion Committee serves as a catalyst for change and continuous improvement in areas of diversity and inclusion.

On Oct. 16, 12:05 - 1 p.m., (Lindell 301) we invite faculty, staff and students to hear about areas of focus for 2014-15 and provide input, ask questions, and be engaged in this critical work.

Campus Cupboard Food Shelf Open to All Students

The Campus Cupboard food shelf is now open the following times:

Tuesdays 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Wednesdays 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Fridays 12:30 - 4 p.m.

The food shelf is open to any Augsburg student to use.

The Augsburg College food shelf, Campus Cupboard, provides free food to students throughout the academic year. Campus Cupboard is located in Hoversten Chapel of Foss Center by the back stairwell to the balcony. If you are an Augsburg student who would like to use the food shelf, stop by during open hours. Students may pick out five food items each visit. An Augsburg student ID is required. (Names will not be recorded, only ID numbers.)

If you would like to donate to the food shelf: Donations of non-perishable food items are accepted in green collection bins at the Welcome Desk and Einstein's (in Christensen), the Campus Ministry/Theater Office (in Foss), and the Urn/Mort and Anderson dorm lobbies.

Monday 10/13/14
Nabo is open from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Special of the Day is a Crispy Chicken Club Sandwich.

Einsteins is open from 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m., with the late night menu starting at 7:00 p.m.

The Commons is open from 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Market Place is serving baked jojo potatoes, cauliflower with parsley, pulled bbq chicken sandwich and buns. Vege is serving peas sautéed with mint and shallot, vegan buffalo chicken, carrots in lime soy butter and roasted potatoes with rosemary.

There is a Cheese Cake Bar at Dinner!

Think you can't afford one of these short-term study abroad experiences? Check out THREE scholarship opportunities listed below. Apply before October 15 and you will be notified if you are awarded before the program application deadline of October 30.

1) Mary Witt Scholarship:
This fund enhances opportunities for persons lacking sufficient personal resources, especially persons of color, to participate in CGE programs. Funds may also be awarded to students who can demonstrate involvement in grassroots work so that such participants can meet their counterparts working for social change in other countries.

2) Religious Studies Scholarship:
This fund is intended to provide encouragement and financial assistance for study abroad to students majoring in religion or pre-seminary, The award is based upon financial need.

3) Students of Color Endowed Scholarship Fund:
This fund is for students with demonstrated financial need and who are affiliated with the American Indian, Hispanic/Latino, Pan Afrikan or Pan Asian support programs at Augsburg College

ABOUT THE FILM
In "The Good Lie," Philippe Falardeau, (writer and director of the Oscar-nominated Foreign Language film "Monsieur Lazhar") brings the story of their survival and triumph to life. Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon ("Walk the Line") stars alongside Sudanese actors Arnold Oceng, Ger Duany, Emmanuel Jal, and newcomer Kuoth Wiel, many of whom were also children of war.

Swenson and Stoner Speak at Wednesday's Open Forum

Staff Senate's monthly Open Forum will feature Jeff Swenson, Director of Athletics, and Donald Stoner, Sports Information Director. They will give and athletics update, talk about how Athletics collaborates with the larger campus community and discuss how staff can get engage with our Auggie athletics teams.

3D Printing 10/21 7-9 p.m.

All are welcome to join in another event in our series of hacker/maker spawning from Arduino night. The night will include talks about the applications of 3D printing, as well as getting to see some 3D printing in action. There will be opportunity to learn the process of designing pieces to print and examples of printed objects. Pizza and cake will be provided, not printed.

AgileAdvisor Training Today

AgileAdvisor training for faculty advisors and staff will be held today, Monday, October 13 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in Sverdrup 201. These sessions will be held in computer labs so that we can do some hands-on training. If you use a laptop, please feel free to bring it to the session.

The training sessions will cover some of the basic functions of AgileAdvisor and its connection to the upcoming midterm progress reports. Additional information is always available in the AgileAdvisor manual: http://go.augsburg.edu/agilemanual
