New Plants

You'll see new plants in the Oren Gateway Center lobby, Admissions lobby, and refreshed plants in Lindell Library. There is just one person taking care of these plants, so please don't water them. If you have heard that caffeine is good for plants, it's not true, so please don't pour your extra coffee, tea, or "dew" in the pots! Contact me if you'd like to report any issues with the plants.

2014-2015 Work Study Information

The 2014 fall semester is fast approaching! If you are a hiring manager, please be sure to review the information below regarding student positions for the 2014-2015 academic year.

As many of you know, the state minimum wage is now $8.00. In response to this new regulation, Augsburg College has changed the wage structure for student employees to be in line with the new minimum wage law.

The 2014 – 2015 academic student rates will be as follows:
New Student Rate: $8.15
Returning Student Rate: $8.50
Technical Rate: $9.00 (starting, max $9.50)

Steps to follow when hiring a student worker for the 2014-2015 Academic Year
1. Students who are returning into a position they held previously will only need to fill out the Student Employment Hire form. This form is located on the Human Resources (HR) Moodle site.
2. Looking for a student worker to hire? Any new position will need to be posted on the Human Resources website. Fill out the Student Employment Posting Request form located on the HR Moodle site, return the form to HR, and we will post the position. Applications will be forwarded to the Hiring Manager for review.
3. Once a student is hired, the Hiring Manager will fill out the Student Employment Hire form and submit it to the HR office. Students who have never worked on campus before will need to fill out additional HR forms, including a background check.

Priority for federal and state work study eligibility: As in previous years, students who are federal or state work study eligible, as well as international students, will be given priority through the end of October in hiring. After this time, all students may apply for student worker positions.

New timekeeping system - Kronos: Students will be entered into Kronos once we receive all their paperwork in HR. Look for hands on workshops to attend in September and October. We will be posting information through A-Mail on these workshops.

Questions? Email HR at hr@augsburg.edu or 612-330-1058.
