2013-2014 FAFSA Renewal

It's that time again! The FAFSA application for the 2013-2014 year is now available for students returning to Augsburg in the Fall of 2013. The FAFSA is the application required to determine your eligibility for access to financial aid during your time at Augsburg, and must be renewed every year.

May 1st is the deadline to apply for financial aid at Augsburg. All Day College students must submit their application by this date or risk losing some of the aid that may be available to you.

Don't forget to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool when completing your FAFSA this year. This function pre-populates your tax information into the application, which reduces your chances of being selected for verification later on. The IRS Data Retrieval Tool is available for use on the FAFSA 2-3 weeks after electronically filing your taxes, and 6-8 weeks after filing paper taxes.

Questions? Stop by the Enrollment Center and speak with any of our Student Financial Services Counselors or call us at 612-330-1046.

Spread Cheer, Smiles and Do Good with Rotary Roses

Spreading cheer and doing good couldn't be easier when you place an order for a dozen roses from the West St. Paul-Mendota Heights Rotary Club. You get flowers to brighten the day of a friend or colleague, while profits support charitable projects.

Orders are due by April 17 for campus delivery on April 24 (Administrative Professionals Day). The roses are a cheerful way to say "thank you" to colleagues and friends who help make Augsburg go. Roses also make a great day brightener for the people you like and love.

The cost for a dozen roses is $15, and payment is due in advance (check preferred).

To order by April 17:
--Pick your color -- a dozen red or a dozen "lollipop" (pastel) roses
--Make check payable to "West St. Paul-Mendota Heights Rotary"
--Send check and order to: Stephanie Weiss, MarComm, Box 145, Anderson Hall, Suite 25
--Include your office number/on-campus delivery location

Be sure to have a vase at your office on delivery day -- April 24 -- so your roses stay fresh!

--Neighbors Inc. Food Shelf
--Henry Sibley High School ALMAS (Anglos Latinos Motivated to Succeed)
--360 Communities' domestic violence prevention services
--Loaves & Fishes, through which the Club serves about 2,000 meals per year on the West Side of St. Paul

As Spring slowly arrives, we all begin to clean out our closets, dorm spaces, homes and apartments in celebration of warmer weather.

Augsburg Step-Up and members of Project Management Section A, are asking for your help by donating your gently used clothing, accessories, dorm room/apartment furnishings, and electronics. Items will be donated to the First annual Keeping clean Yard Sale, Fund raiser and Informational. Being held on Friday April 5, 2013 In the Oren Gateway Atrium (Date Change) from 11am-8pm

Every year Augsburg's Step-Up program serves and assists around 85 students from around the country and has served over 600 individuals during its strong sixteen year history.

All the proceeds made from this yard sale will go to the building of a Scholarship fund that would benefit the countless Students within the Step-Up program who cannot afford the ever rising cost of tuition, housing, and books.

With the help of donations from the Augsburg community and the broader surrounding Twin Cities area, we hope to make a difference and show our support for a pivotal group in our Augsburg community. All donations can be made to us in the Christensen Center on:

Looking for Rental Housing

I'm helping good friends, Sarah and Nick, find temporary housing through a rental, sub-let or house sitting opportunity. They married—he is head of props at the Guthrie, she is an actress who regularly performs at the Guthrie. They've sold their small house in St. Paul and need to be out May 23. They're looking to rent/sublet/house sit for about 6 months while they look for the perfect house to buy.

They are expecting their first child in September and have a sweet dog named Adele. They are both wonderful! Please call if you have ideas.
