The American Commonwealth Partnership, whose home is Augsburg College, is organizing a Shaping Our Future, a year-long national dialogue on the future of higher education. Through this initiative, students, faculty, administrators, employers, and members of the general public will reflect on how colleges and universities might help the country tackle some of its most vexing problems. Shaping Our Future is organized by the American Commonwealth Partnership and the National Issues Forums, in cooperation with the Department of Education. The kickoff event will include information about forums now being planned on campuses and in communities nationwide.
RenFest Discount Admissions
Augsburg College students, staff, and faculty members can receive a discount when purchasing tickets online for the Renaissance Festival [RenFest]. The Festival is open Saturdays and Sundays from August 18 to September 30. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Open rain or shine, and there is always free parking at the Festival!
This weekend's theme is Silk Road: Discover the Riches. Events include longbow competition, belly dancing lessons and performances, and Middle Eastern music.
1. Go to the Minnesota Renaissance Festival homepage (www.renaissancefest.com) and click on the banner at the top of the page that indicates Buy Tickets.
2. You will come to a page with a listing of different themed events happening at the Renaissance Festival and links to buy tickets. The first result that will show is the Minnesota Renaissance Festival: Gate Admission Tickets and Season Passes. Click on the blue box that says "Tickets" that is right of the title.
3. Under the gray box that says Minnesota Renaissance Festival: Gate Tickets and Season Passes, you will come to a text box where you may input your promotional code. Type in your promotional code and click on Apply Code. This will apply your discount to the general admission tickets for adult and children admissions. (The code is not case sensitive)
a. Promo code: AUGSCOLLEGE12
b. Your ticket prices should pop up after clicking on Apply Code with the ticket prices: A. Adult: $16.75; B. Child: $8.85
Do NOT select Ticket Quantity from the GENERAL PUBLIC)
4. Select Ticket Quantity from General Admission – Online Consignment Discount Program
5. Select Delivery Method
6. Click on Get Tickets (This part may take a moment to process)
7. You will be directed to a My Cart page. Check to make sure everything is correct. There will be a service fee that will be added which will make each individual ticket: A. Adult: $16.75 + $1.25 = $18.00; B. Child: $ 8.85 + $1.15 = $10.00
8. Click on Checkout

Meal plans start Saturday; dinner is served in the Commons from 5-7 p.m.

Einsteins will be open Saturday and Sunday for move in.
Monday all locations will resume regular business hours.
Free Lockers Available for 2012-2013
Campus Activities and Orientation has a limited number of lockers that students can reserve for their use for the entire academic year. These lockers are completely free and are located on the ground and second floors of the Science Building. Lockers are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, and priority is given to students who commute from off-campus.

Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie
Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie will be speaking at Augsburg College on Thursday, September 20, in Sateren Auditorium from 1:30-3 p.m. He will speak about Minnesota’s voting history and our rights and responsibilities as voters. There will be more details coming. Plan to bring yourselves, your classes, friends, and family. Mark your calendars.

Ally Trainings are offered for all faculty, staff, and students at Augsburg College to gain knowledge, skills, and resources around being intentionally supportive of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA) communities. Participants will learn about LGBTQIA history and culture, confront myths and stereotypes, discuss heterosexual and gender-conforming privilege, discuss potential scenarios, ask questions in a safe environment, and discuss next steps on how to be an effective ally to LGBTQIA individuals at Augsburg.

Home for Rent in St Paul During Sabbatical Nov.-Feb.

We are looking for a non-smoking person or family to sublet our fully furnished St. Paul home from early November 2012 to mid-February 2012. The house is 100 years old and has beautiful woodwork and wood floors in addition to a newer bathroom (2003) and kitchen (2009). There is a patio in the enclosed back yard.
The house is in a quiet residential neighborhood close to many small shops, a library, a grocery store, Target, Concordia University, Macalester College, and historic and scenic Summit Avenue. There is easy bus access to Hamline University, University of St. Thomas, St. Catherine University, University of Minnesota, Augsburg College, Rosedale Mall, MSP airport, Mall of America, downtown Minneapolis and downtown St. Paul. Access to an interstate freeway is less than one mile away.
