Exciting Changes in Lindell Library

Come check out the new, cool mobile shelves on the Lower Level of Lindell Library. All of the books which were located on the Link Level were moved this summer to the new shelving. So the Lower Level now has twice the number of volumes! Amazing!

Watch (and listen to the construction noises) for the new Gage Center for Student Success, coming in October to the Link Level! Exciting!

Brown Bag Lunch Session- Flu Shots & Germs

Please join us on Wednesday, September 14 from 12-1pm in the Riverside Room (Christensen Building) to learn the benefits and myths of flu shots and other things we should know about spreading germs. Dawn Ludwig, PA Program Director, will facilitate this session. We encourage you stop by with your lunch. A healthy snack will be provided.

Augsburg Named a "Best College"

Augsburg College was named a 2011 Best Regional College by U.S. News and World Report. Check out the listing, photos and other rankings at http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/augsburg-college-2334.

Last May, the College earned the 2010 Presidential Award for Community Service. This is the highest award given that recognizes institutions for their commitment to and achievement in community service, and Augsburg is the only Minnesota school to receive this honor. Posting Policy

A reminder that posting is allowed only on designated posting strips, bulletin boards and kiosks (where provided). NO posting on glass or painted surfaces.

To get your posters/notices approved, go to the the Christensen Center Information Desk; a maximum of 25 will be stamped and approved for posting on campus.

Notices from the Registrar, Facilities Management, and Public Safety may be posted in all areas. Event and Conference Planning may use signs or other materials to fill special requests or for campus events.

Please also note:
---No direct or indirect promotion of alcohol or drugs, obscene material or material that would violate applicable law or Augsburg College policy.
---No flyers on cars in Augsburg College parking lots. (City of Minneapolis, Ordinance 403.10)
---Community events and notices (including buy/sell and help wanted) can be posted on the bulletin board in the Christensen Center main floor near the restrooms.

New Tuition Refund Policy

Students who withdraw from their courses may be eligible for a refund of a portion of their charges. The refund is based on the percentage of calendar time remaining on the date of the student's official withdrawal from classes. Free Lockers Available for Students

Campus Activities and Orientation has a limited number of lockers that students can reserve for their use for the academic year. These lockers are completely free and are located on the ground floor of Science Building. Lockers are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, and priority is given to students who commute from off-campus. To find out more information on how to reserve a locker, contact AuBri Weatherspoon, CAO Student Administrative Assistant, via email at cao@augsburg.edu as soon as possible!

Flu Shot Clinics

Flu shot clinics are scheduled for faculty, staff, and students for vaccinations combining protection against both the seasonal flu and H1N1 viruses. Individuals are responsible for the cost of their shots, which may vary depending upon insurance plans. A valid insurance card must be presented. Without an insurance card, the cost for a shot is $25 and the cost for flu mist is $35.

o 8 a.m.-12 p.m., September 27, Lindell Library 202
o 12-3 p.m., September 28, Lindell Library 202

A walk-in clinic, will be from 12-3 p.m., October 24, at Oren Gateway Center 100. Faculty and staff are welcome. Although pre-registration is not necessary, you must present an insurance card to receive the flu shot at no cost (coverage varies depending on member’s benefit level). Without an insurance card, the cost is $27.

Flower Delivery

The Welcome desk located in Christensen Center will accept all flower deliveries from 9 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday
8 am until 12 pm on Saturdays during Weekend College Classes (WEC) (subject to change).
Please note we will make every attempt to notify the recipient by email and phone. *NOTE* proper identification will be required to receive any deliveries that are left at the desk.
Any questions or concerns please contact the welcome desk at 612-330-1500. Any deliveries made outside of these times of operation must be sent to the department of public safety located in the Urness/Mortensen lobby.

Event Announcements

Speech Team Informational Meeting TODAY

Those of you who were on your high school speech team know all about forensics--and those of you who weren't, should! There will be an opening meeting for the Augsburg Speech Team TODAY (Thursday) from 3:30-4:30 in Oren Gateway 100. Anyone who'd like to find out how to achieve fame and glory by talking to others should attend. A speech team information packet will be distributed; speech team T-shirts and baseball caps will be raffled off to lucky winners; and refreshments will be provided. Anyone is welcome--if you get a chance, RSVP to Director of Forensics David Lapakko (lapakko@augsburg.edu) so he knows how much food to order. But "last-minute walk-ins" are also encouraged!

LGBTQIA Ally Training Open for Staff and Faculty

Ally Training will be available on Thursday, October 13 from 9:00am-12:00pm in Marshall Room.

Participants have an opportunity to learn about the history and culture about the LGBTQIA community, confront myths and stereotypes, hear from an LGBTQIA community panel, discuss heterosexual and gender-conforming privilege, discuss potential scenarios, ask the questions they want in a safe environment, and discuss next steps on how to be an effective ally to LGBTQIA individuals at Augsburg.

All staff and faculty are highly encouraged to attend and will receive an "Ally" placard for their offices upon completion of the training.
