Japan Bridging Scholarship: $2500-$4000

The Bridging Project offers scholarships to American undergraduate students participating in study-abroad programs in Japan. Funding from private foundations and major U.S. corporations, through donations to the nonprofit US-Japan Bridging Foundation, has made it possible for ATJ to award 85 scholarships to assist students with the travel and living expenses they will incur while studying abroad in Japan for a semester or an academic year during 2011-2012.

Bridging Scholarship recipients receive a stipend of $2,500 (for students on semester-long programs) or $4,000 (for students on academic year programs). Students studying in Japan on summer programs are not eligible to apply.

For Fall of 2012 students should apply in spring 2012, by April 6, 2012.

Keep Your Reams Wrapped

Or, what a summer for copiers! This summer's record humidity has caused some issues with some of the copiers around campus. As always, if you have problems with your copier, call the Copy Center at x1054. But, to head off some problems, try keeping the copy paper ream in its wrapper until you need to load it in the drawer. Let it run out before putting in the next ream. And if you use both drawers for the same paper, you could just use one drawer during the worst of the summer humidity. The longer the paper is unwrapped, the more moisture it will absorb and the more it can misbehave in the copier paper path. This trick will also help in the winter, as the opposite problem occurs – the longer the paper is unwrapped, the more it dries out.

Summer Grades Due Dates

SSII and SSIII grades are due Thursday, 18 Aug.

SSII Online grades are due Friday, 26 Aug.

Grading information can be found through the following link:
http://www.augsburg.edu/enroll/registrar/faculty/index.html
click on Faculty Information, then click on Grade Entry Guidelines.

Timely grade submission is important to our students. Most of our WEC and Grad students are on company reimbursement and work under time lines for submitting their tuition claim (which requires a grade for the course). Many of our Day students are dependent on scholarships which require graded coursework for continuance or for application for new monies. Thank you for your efforts to support our students.
