Master Leadership in a New Way

Thinking about a graduate degree? Now there's a new way to earn your Master of Arts in Leadership (MAL) at Augsburg!

Starting this summer, the MAL is being offered in Augsburg's new Integrated Graduate Studies format. Our integrated programs combine two intensive summer classes, monthly face-to-face sessions and online learning to create a high impact learning experience that offers the flexibility that many graduate students need. Garry Hesser will start the program this summer with a five-day on campus class that explores leadership in our Cedar-Riverside neighborhood.

Whether you choose our new integrated format or the classic classroom format that has been one of Augsburg's premier programs for over twenty years, an MAL from Augsburg will help you develop professional leadership skills that will prepare you for success in your workplace and community. Now there are two ways to earn this outstanding degree!

Lindell Library Graduation and Summer Hours

During this graduation week, Lindell Library will be open:
Thursday, May 5 -- 8 am - 7 pm
Friday, May 6 -- 8 am - 5 pm
Saturday, May 7 -- 10 am - 6 pm
Sunday, May 8 -- Noon - 6 pm

Regular summer hours begin May 9:
Monday-Friday -- 9:00 am – 9:00 pm
Saturday -- 10:00 am – 6:00 pm (WEC 7:30-6:00)
Sunday -- Noon – 6:00 pm

Online library resources are also available 24/7 on that web site.

Auggies Master Making a Difference

Do you want to make a difference in the world? Are you a creative individual with an entrepreneurial spirit? If you answered yes to both of these questions, a future as a social entrepreneur might be the fit you've been looking for. Augsburg's new Graduate Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship can help you get there.

Social entrepreneurs are people who don't believe you have to choose between doing well financially or doing good in the world. They create businesses and organizations that help solve social problems while providing a sound living to the people who work for them. Our graduate certificate is a series of six classes that will teach you about social entrepreneurship and give you the vital business and leadership skills you need to start your own social enterprise. And, if you choose, you can continue on with graduate work after you have completed the certificate and apply the classes and credits to a full MBA or MAL degree.

Spring Day Grades Due Friday, 13 May

Spring Day grades are due Friday, 13 May.

Grading information can be found through the following link:

Timely grade submission is important to our students. Many of our Day students are dependent on scholarships which require graded coursework for continuance or for application for new monies. Thank you for your efforts to support our students.

Some Central Service Hours Changing May 9

After studying customer visits and labor hours, we will be changing Shipping/Receiving-Out-going Mailroom hours to 9 AM – 4 PM, Monday through Friday, effective Monday May 9. Upstairs Mailroom hours will NOT be changing (9 AM – 4 PM), and the Copy Center will be switching to summer hours, 8 AM – 4 PM, Monday through Friday, WEC Friday nights until 6 PM and WEC Saturdays, 7:30-10:30 AM. There may be hours changes for fall semester, which we would communicate at a later time.

Focused Conversation: Updates to Employee Handbook

The Human Resources Leadership Committee has been tasked with rewriting the new Employee Handbook. The purpose of this focused conversation is to:
1. Discuss the process, and what will happen going forward.
2. Present two new policies to the campus which are new and in draft form:
a."Progressive Discipline Policy"
b. "Grievance Policy/Procedure"

Campus community members will be able to access the drafts on the HR moodle site and hard copies will be available at the meeting:

Bishop Hanson at Trinity this Sunday

Presiding Bishop Mark Hanson, Augsburg alum '67, will speak at Trinity's Adult Forum this Sunday, May 8th, 9:45-10:45 on the topic: "Developing Partnerships Between Lutheran Colleges and Local Congregations." The Forum takes place in the Green Room in Foss. President Pribbenow will be preaching at the 11:00 service on the same day. All are welcome

Spring Social--Save the Date

The Office of the President and Staff Senate invite you to join us at a Spring Social in the Quad for staff and faculty. The gathering will be held on Monday, May 23, from 3 to 5 p.m.

This event will replace the Staff Senate Summer Picnic in an effort to make the celebration more special. It is our hope that this social hour will become an annual end-of-year celebration much like the holiday party in December. Please join us to celebrate this new season.
