Best Leadership Training... For Free

Augsburg is hosting its first full-on, intense, hands-on, no power point, leadership boot camp-type, but not really boot camp EVER! This opportunity is ONLY OPEN TO 16 PEOPLE!!! And it's all first come, first served! If you don't sign up through Augsburg, it would normally cost you $2,500 individually! BUT it's free to you!

The LifeSkills Center for Leadership is an area nonprofit that provides the same leadership development training that "Famous" Dave Anderson built and used to build his company of over 175 restaurants. They've successfully worked with CEOs and Business Leaders everywhere, and now they are working with AUGSBURG! The last thing you will be in this course is bored; the first thing that you will be is challenged to be beyond your best! It's tough, and then it's exciting, then it's awesome, then it's even better, I don't really know how to explain it; but it's incredibly different than ANYTHING I'VE EVER ATTENDED before!! Please check it out!

FREE FOOD – ALL MEALS ARE PROVIDED OVER THE DURATION OF THE COURSE [eat breakfast before you come]

FULL ON – The first day of this training is September 19 from 8:00AM-10:00PM. The second day, September 20, is from 8:00AM-6:15PM. All training is on the Augsburg campus

RESULTS – You will never experience anything like this. It will be, hands down, the most memorable and impactful experience of your life so that you are better prepared for your life, your future, and whatever it is you want!

Contact Megan Benrud [benrud@augsburg.edu] if you are interested! Spaces are filling quick!

Help Save Midtown Farmers Market

The Midtown Farmers Market has been rocking it at the corner of Lake St and Hiawatha (right next to the YWCA) for the last 6 years. Later this year, their host, Mpls Public Schools, will sell the property for development, and they need to demonstrate public support to preserve a space for the market to continue.

In a national contest, the Midtown market is in the top 5 for the most popular market and stands to win a much needed $5,000. If you've ever loved this market, or hope to love it some day, take a moment and vote for it here: http://www.care2.com/farmersmarket/16140/?refer=28757.04.1252939361.026847

By voting, you don't only help the market earn some funds, but you're recording your support to show the city that they should do something to keep the market where it is. For market times and more info: http://www.midtownfarmersmarket.org/

And don't forget the Augsburg Farmers Market if that works better for you. It's in front of Foss every Tuesday from 2-5. See you there!

New Campus Posting Policy

Augsburg College official student groups and organizations, staff and faculty may use college space to publicize events and meetings. The new policy asks that individuals post "only where marked" rather than the old policy which permitted "posting anywhere except in certain spots.

As before, all postings must be approved and dated by staff at the Christensen Center Information Desk (M-F, 8 am – 6 pm and Saturdays, 8 am – 12 noon).

A maximum of 20 will be stamped and approved for posting on campus. that is the total number of spots we have provided through designated posting strips, bulletin boards and kiosks.

Posting is not permitted on any other surface or space, such as glass, doors, or painted walls.
Posters/flyers must be put up using push pins, tacks or staples; no duct tape, permanent adhesives, or tape. Organizations will be charged for damages to walls and surfaces and we ask individuals and organizations are responsible for removal of their materials.

No flyers are permitted on cars in Augsburg College parking lots. (City of Minneapolis, Ordinance 403.10)

There is a Community events/notices (including buy/sell and help wanted) board in the Christensen Center main floor near the restrooms.

Contact Campus Activities and Orientation for assistance with publicity ideas, sidewalk chalking, floor signs, or painting windows. For special events, contact Event and Conference Planning.

Residence Hall posting: all posters and flyers must be approved by Residence Life staff. Contact Residence Life at reslife@augsburg.edu or 612-330-1488.

State Fair Thank You

Thank you so very much to the many volunteers (staff, current students, alums, parents!) who helped staff the Augsburg booth at the Minnesota State Fair! It was a very successful 12 days and with your help, we put a wonderful face on the College. I want to especially thank Michele Kidwell for her tremendous help teaching me how to take the lead with this event and the big job of setting things up in the booth. A huge thank you as well to Julie Edstrom and David Warch for taking things down! Thanks again, everyone!
