OIP Travel Update
Office of International Programs - Travel update
As of May 15, 2009 the Center for Disease Control downgraded the Travel Warning to Mexico into a Travel Health Precaution: http://wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/content/travel-health-precaution/novel-h1n1-flu-mexico.aspx
No travel warnings exist for other countries in which the Center for Global Education and Augsburg Abroad currently have programs. However, because of the H1N1 influenza (swine flu) outbreak in the United States, the Center for Disease Control has cautioned about possible international travel delays due to novel H1N1 flu screening procedures:
http://wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/content/news-announcements/delays-H1N1-screening.aspx
The CDC recommends that if you are sick with symptoms of influenza-like illness you should not travel.
The health and well-being of Augsburg students, faculty, and staff is our highest priority. We will continue to monitor conditions and will not hesitate to make whatever program and schedule changes we deem necessary.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College men's golfer Colby Anderson (SR, Luverne, Minn.) was named as a Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-American Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America, it was announced on Friday.
Anderson finished his senior season as Augsburg's No. 2 golfer, with a 78.2 season-long stroke average and a .689 individual winning percentage (533-241). He earned All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors with a seventh-place finish at the MIAC championships in October, and had seven top-10 finishes in his 12 tournaments this season, including a second-place finish at the Central (Iowa) Dutch Classic on March 27.
In four seasons at Augsburg (2004-06, 2007-09), Anderson compiled a 79.5 stroke average (5,409 strokes in 68 rounds).
Anderson is a business marketing major with a 3.222 grade-point average. He was one of four finalists or the male Honor Athlete award, the highest honor given to an Augsburg senior student-athlete, at the Auggie Awards in April.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically and compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA championships, have a stroke average under 79.0 in Division III and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Under fourth-year head coach Ted Vickerman, the Augsburg men's golf team rebounded from last season's eighth-place finish at the MIAC championships with a third-place finish in this season's conference meet. Augsburg finished its 2008-09 season with a 315.1 stroke average, with six Auggies recording season-long stroke averages of 82.0 or better.
