Security Alert - Burglary in Memorial Hall
A wallet was taken from an unlocked and unattended office in Memorial Hall on Monday, October 27, 2008. The loss occurred sometime between 10:15 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
If you have any information regarding this crime, please contact the Minneapolis Police Department or Augsburg's Department of Public Safety. You can reach DPS all day, every day by dialing 1717 from an on-campus phone or 612-330-1717 from an off-campus phone.
You Can Help Prevent Crime at Augsburg!
- Always lock your office whenever you leave, even if you will only be gone briefly. Most home burglaries take only 3 to 5 minutes, office burglaries can take even less time.
- If you misplace or do not have a key, please call 1717 and ask us to come and lock the office. Please wait at the office until we arrive.
- Keep valuables out of view. If possible, secure them in drawer or cabinet. Better yet, take your valuables with you or leave them at home.
- Keep your car keys on your person at all times! This is especially important if you have a remote unlocking device.
- Immediately report suspicious activity to the Minneapolis Police or Augsburg DPS.
If you have questions or concerns regarding crime at Augsburg, please contact John Pack, Director of Public Safety at 612-330-1644 or pack@augsburg.edu.

Composting: A "TON" of our Minds
As you now Augsburg along with Augsburg Dining have been composting since September 22. Well the weight is in. On average, Augsburg college composts around 3/4ths of a ton a week. This is due to the contentious efforts of the Augsburg community and Tray-less Tuesday. Once again, all of the composting is going to Hennepin County witch says that we are the only private college in Hennepin county to be composting. Keep up the good work.
Sue Silverman Writing Talk 2:30--TODAY

2008 Presidential Holiday Procedure
As you know, President Pribbenow announced five paid Presidential Holidays for staff in addition to the three official paid holidays (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day). The Presidential Holidays must be taken between December 1, 2008 and January 31, 2009. The following explains the guidelines and procedures for staff requesting and reporting the additional holidays.
Best wishes for a wonderful holiday season!
How can I request the President Holidays?
See your supervisor. Your supervisor is coordinating the support needs of your area with your divisional vice president. Your supervisor must pre-authorize and pre-schedule your request accordingly so that our campus remains open and accessible.
When can I take these days?
Between December 1, 2008 and January 31, 2009
Days must be used in whole day increments
Preferential consideration will be given for December 26, 29-30-31 and January 2
Time not used will expire and there is no accrual for this time, nor is overtime earned in a week when a Presidential Holiday is used
How do I report the Presidential Holidays used?
Be sure to report the days used on your time sheet or absence report as "PH" for "Presidential Holiday"
Submit your supervisor for final approval
If you work less than full-time, your paid time will be pro-rated based on your FTE (just like treatment of other holidays)

In this poignant and enchanting play, Sarah Ruhl (Pulitzer Prize nominee and MacArthur genius grant winner) presents her contemporary take on the ancient Greek tale of Eurydice and Orpheus. Written after her father's death, Ruhl meditates with delicacy and insight on Eurydice's painful decision whether to remain with her father in the Underworld, or to return with her love Orpheus to the land of the living. We enter a surreal world, as lush and limpid as a dream, where both author and audience swim in the magical and thrilling flow of the unconscious. --The New Yorker

MINNEAPOLIS (10/28/08) -- For the second straight week, an Augsburg College volleyball player earned Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Hitter of the Week honors, as outside hitter Katie Christensen (SO, North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS) earned the award on Monday.
Christensen claimed 26 kills and hit .253, while contributing seven blocks and 13 digs, helping Augsburg to two five-set victories in a three-day span, as Augsburg moved into contention for a berth in the MIAC postseason playoffs for the first time since the playoffs went to its current six-team format in 2001.
Christensen had 15 kills with five digs and two blocks in a 3-2 win against Bethel on Wednesday, then had 11 kills, five blocks and eight digs in a 3-2 win at St. Mary's on Friday. Christensen has recorded double-digit kills in her last three matches in a row, in six matches in league play and in 10 matches overall this season. As a team, Augsburg has won its last four matches in a row (including three straight 3-2 wins) and eight of its last 11 matches, to stand at 16-11 overall, 4-5 in MIAC play. Augsburg's 16 victories is its most since the 1998 season (17-11 overall, 6-5 MIAC). The Auggies close the MIAC regular season with two matches on the road this week, at St. Catherine on Wednesday (10/29) at 7 p.m. and at St. Thomas on Saturday (11/1) at 3 p.m.

Mixed Blood Theatre Presentation of "1001"
Free showing of "1001" at 7:30 p.m. tonight for students at the Mixed Blood Theatre, Minneapolis. Written by Jason Grote and directed by Sarah Rasmussen, "1001" is a river of stories, hyperlinking tales from One Thousand and One Nights to contemporary New York City, bouncing from Persia to Gaza and beyond. It is a love story of old world Arabian markets and palaces, interwoven with modern politics of romance, culture, electronic courtship, and emotional deception.
