Beginning Thursday, April 6, Si Melby will be under contstruction. The main walkway that runs next to Melby between the new parking lot L and 23rd Ave will be closed until the construction is finished.

Construction on the new Melby-South Addition project begins this week. A large area between Melby Hall and Nelson field will be fenced off for safety and security purposes resulting in limited access points to the Ice Arena, Field, Si Melby Hall and the large parking lot on the east side of campus. The following is access information for the facilities:

Message: Come to a dinner with live polka music on Wednesday, April 12 in East Commons. Senior Citizens from the surrounding area will be coming as well. Dinner will be served from 5:30-6:30 and is provided by Campus Kitchens. Dancing will begin at 6:30. There will also be BINGO with prizes. Lori Gordon, one of eight artists whose work is currently on view in the Minneapolis Room, will be giving a public slide presentation at 11 a.m. in Lindell 16. Lori will be discussing her found object sculptures that are made out of the debris of Hurricane Katrina. Refreshments to follow.

ABO and the MBA Department invite all Business students to our next social networking event on Tuesday, April 18th. The evening will start at 5 p.m. with a casual tailgate dinner at Augsburg to learn and share experiences with your fellow undergraduate and MBA students along with faculty and staff. This is a great time to network with your fellow Auggie business classmates which can be invaluable as you start to think about internships and employment for the future. After dinner, we'll head to the Metrodome for a 7 p.m. Minnesota Twins game against the Los Angeles Angels.

On Wednesday the 12th, LINK is hosting a Polka Party in East Commons. Many of the Senior Citizens who receive food from Campus Kitchen will be served, and we would love people to come and make them feel welcomed on our campus. Dinner is served for all who attend. We will be playing bingo and a polka band will play, as well.

Eric Borneman, coral researcher and author of the acclaimed book "Aquarium Corals", will speak on campus Friday and Saturday, an event co-sponsored by the Twin Cities Marine Aquarium Society and the Augsburg Biology Department. Eric received the "Aquarist of the Year" award by the Marine Aquarium Societies of North America in 2002 for contributions to the field of coral husbandry. He has hosted several advanced aquarium coral husbandry forums on the Internet, and is a science editor of ReefKeeping magazine and Reef Hobbyist Online. Eric has contributed hundreds of articles to both the scientific and the international reefkeeping communities and has lectured worldwide on the subject of coral husbandry. He has been diving and photographing coral reefs of the world since 1978.

Message: Our annual All-Student Juried Art Exhibition and the Senior Art Exhibition open this coming Friday at 4:30 p.m. Help us celebrate the artistic accomplishments of our Augsburg students by attending the receptions that day from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The Juried Exhibition awards will be announced at 5 p.m. in the Gage Gallery and the Senior's special presentation and "Best in Show" award will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the Christensen Center Art Gallery. JUMP Worship is a monthly hip-hop worship service held at Redeemer Lutheran Church at 1800 Glenwood Avenue in North Minneapolis. It is held the second Sunday of every month. This month, on April 9, JUMP will feature a pageant on the passion of Christ. It will get into Easter (just a little early) as well. The featured preacher for April is Augsburg College junior, Jeanette Clark. She will preach on resurrection.
