Submitter:
Krista Young, Communications and Parking Manager, Public Safety

Message: Now that the snow is here, many of us may be affected by snow removal on the city streets. The website listed below contains very helpful information regarding snow emergencies, including the option to be notified about snow emergencies in advance via an e-mail or phone call from the city of Minneapolis.

http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/snow/plowpal-how.asp

Please be aware that you are responsibe for watching for announcements and moving your vehicle when the city declares a snow emergency.

Please call Krista Young at 612-330-1711 with questions.

Subject: SPRING PERMIT SALES FOR DAY STUDENTS

Submitter:
Krista Young, Communications and Parking Manager, Public Safety

Message: PERMIT PRICES:
Resident and Commuter permits will be $110 for Spring semester, with full amount due at registration.

New Hall Underground permits will be $360 for Spring semester, with full amount due at registration.

Minneapolis City Street permits will be $25 for one academic year, with full amount due at the time permit is picked up from the City of Minneapolis.

ONLINE PARKING REGISTRATION:
This year our parking system is online. Every student, faculty, and staff member at the college must use the online system. All students interested in a Spring semester permit may register online beginning Monday, December 12th. If you do not register online, you are not eligible for a permit. However, completing the registration does not guarantee you a permit at this time; permits will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis.

TO PAY FOR AND PICK UP YOUR PERMIT:
To pick up a permit, you must have completed the online registration in advance. On Thursday, January 19th, please come to the Enrollment Center in Sverdrup Hall to pick up a permit between the hours of 8:30am ? 5pm. If there are any permits left, they will be sold Friday, January 20th from 8:30am-4:30pm. To get a permit, you must bring a form of payment (check, cash, or credit card), a photo ID, and proof of ownership of your vehicle. The only forms of proof of ownership we will accept are license tab renewal forms or vehicle registration. Please call x1717 if you need additional directions to the Enrollment Center.

MINNEAPOLIS CITY STREET PERMITS:
City street permits are the only permits students may purchase without using the online system. Only Augsburg College resident students will be eligible for Minneapolis City street permits.

To obtain a City street permit, please to the Enrollment Center in Sverdrup on Thursday, January 19th between the hours of 8:30am-4:30pm to pick up a letter of residency that will make you eligible for a Minneapolis City street permit. If there are any permits left, letters of residency will also be given out Friday, January 20th from 8:30am-4:30pm. The letter of residency will allow you to purchase a permit from the City of Minneapolis. Available letters of residency will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. You will need to bring a photo ID when you come to pick up your letter. Please call x1717 if you need additional directions to the Enrollment Center. Please remember you can only purchase an Augsburg permit OR a City permit ? not both.

USING THE ONLINE SYSTEM:
Open your web browser and go to: augsburg.parkadmin.com .
Don NOT type in www or http or the site will not open.

? On this page, click on the ?Create New Account? button, then fill out the registration information and follow the prompts on each page.

? One of the steps during registration will be retrieving a password from the e-mail account you provide during registration, then using that password to log back in to the parking system.

? Once you log back in, you will go to the ?Vehicles? link at the top of the page and fill in the appropriate information. You may register only one vehicle.

? Next, go to the ?Parking? link at the top of the page and read through Augsburg?s parking regulations. Once you agree to Augsburg?s parking regulations, you will register a parking permit. Ignore the map displayed on the next page ? it is not an Augsburg map. Click on the correct student link (commuter, resident, or New Hall) on the right side of the page and proceed through to the payment page.

? On the payment page, click the ?purchase this permit? button. A screen will pop up and show you your final order. Now you?ve completed the online registration!

Subject: Vehicles on Campus Over Break

Submitter:
Krista Young, Communications and Parking Manager, Public Safety

Message: If you are leaving your vehicle on campus unattended over winter break, please park it in Lot G (the lot behind the WEC/Grad Admissions house) before you leave. You do not need a permit to park there beginning on Monday, December 12th through Saturday, January 21st.

This makes plowing much easier for the Grounds crew. Note that your vehicle may be towed if it is left unattended.

Subject: Auggie student profiled in Star-Tribune today
Submitter:
Donald W Stoner, Sports Information Coordinator, Public Relations and Communication

Message: Augsburg student-athlete Chike Ochiagha is featured in today's (Friday 12/16) Star-Tribune Scene section.

Ochiagha, an Augsburg football player, is profiled in a series titled "Faces In The Dark," a look at people who, in the Star-Tribune's words, "make nightlife tick" as part of the nighttime scene in the Twin Cities.

Ochiagha works as a "host" (bouncer) at the Farenheit nightclub in downtown Minneapolis. The story, written by Tom Horgen, is headlined: "A bouncer who breaks the mold, not your face."

A quote from the story:
"Ochiagha can bench-press 440 pounds, but he's usually more concerned with his GPA at Augsburg College (a senior, he has a B average) than seeing how far he can throw an obnoxious clubgoer."

The story also mentions Bob Eckstrom, a 2003 Augsburg alumnus, who is one of the managers at Farenheit.

The story is online:
